Reverse the South Apopka food desert by providing gardening opportunities and fresh foods to the community.
The Kasheta Farms community Pocket Farms raised garden bed program is a remarkable initiative that brings numerous benefits to the South Apopka community. This program enables residents to cultivate their own organic produce in raised garden beds provided by Kasheta Farms. By offering accessible gardening spaces, the program encourages community engagement and fosters a sense of pride and ownership among participants. Through gardening, residents can improve their physical and mental well-being, gain a deeper connection to nature, and develop valuable skills in sustainable agriculture. The program also contributes to food security by promoting self-sufficiency and providing fresh, nutritious food options for individuals and families. Furthermore, these Pocket Farms foster a stronger sense of community as neighbors come together to share knowledge, resources, and the joy of growing their own food.
Pocket farms are available for installation at your Apopka business or home! A requested $250 donation supports the build-out of the raised garden, filled with high quality soil, and a seasonal variety of vegetable/fruit/herb starter plants. You can also gift a pocket farm to a business, family, or organization.
